Care Flight has provided service to the community since 1981, starting with the Reno base. Care Flight was the first program covering northern Nevada and northeastern California. Care Flight 1 is now located at Renown Regional Medical Center’s ground helipad which provides us with rapid refueling capability for our AS350 B3 AStar helicopter as well as rapid response to Washoe County and all outlying counties. Rapid and high quality helicopter service to rural areas is frequently the only way for our patients to get safely to the tertiary care centers they need for life-saving treatment. The Reno base, and all other Care Flight bases, is staffed with a pilot, flight nurse and flight paramedic, all holding specialized training and certifications to provide the high quality care the community expects. Our location at the region's only trauma center allows the medical staff to follow up on our patients for continuous quality assurance of care and to provide feedback to our user agencies. |
